The Little Mermaid live-action remake by Disney will be in theatres in just a few days in Canada.
I feel confident this Halle Bailey-led version of The Little Mermaid will knock it out of the park by sheer merit of the existence of mermaids. If there are mermaids, then there will be the right amount of magic and enchantment to keep me engaged.

That’s right, my stepdaughter Lily-Isabella Logan has written and published a middle-grade fantasy novel about mermaids.
Not just any mermaid – the character Aqua is a half-mermaid, half-human orphan who befriends a half-unicorn, half-human princess named Uni. When they both go to Camp Fairy-Tale for the summer, they interact with the children of many popular storybook characters – Snow White, Peter Pan, and Beauty and the Beast, to name a few – and together they learn about the magical quality of friendship.
Lily-Isabella had been working on the idea since the pandemic, based on characters she had created with a childhood friend. She’s really excited to share this story with the world, which is now possible thanks to Dancing Unicorn.
